Plastic Bonding

Adhesive Processing for Polycarbonate & Acrylic Parts

Adhesive Processing Services for Plastics (Polycarbonate & Acrylic)

Excelite Plastic provides adhesive processing and bonding services for plastic parts and assemblies—especially polycarbonate sheet and acrylic sheets.

At Excelite Plastics, “adhesive processing” means professional plastic bonding and assembly—not selling glue. We support the full workflow required to produce reliable, repeatable bonded parts: bond design review (joint style, overlap, gap control, and cosmetic requirements), surface preparation (cleaning, masking, and controlled handling), precision fixturing and alignment, controlled adhesive application and bonding, managed curing, and final inspection to confirm bond-line consistency and appearance. This capability is designed to integrate with our broader one-stop plastic fabrication services—CNC machining, drilling, bending, and thermoforming—so you can source finished components or bonded sub-assemblies from a single supplier for faster lead times and smoother production.

At Excelite Plastic, we integrate the bonding process with other plastic machining and fabrication, such as CNC routing, Milling, Bending plastic, and Silk Screen Printing.

Innovative Processing Techniques

  • Surface preparation (cleaning, controlled handling, masking)
  • Fixturing & alignment (repeatability, gap control)
  • Cure management (time/temperature/pressure control where applicable)
  • Cosmetic control (bubble reduction, overflow control, clean edges)
  • Quality checks (visual inspection, bond-line consistency, basic strength verification per project needs)

Improve Plastic Bonding Performance

  • Surface Preparation: It is essential to ensure the surface smoothness and cleanliness of all contact surfaces.

Referring to the product in below, it serves as the protective shield cover for the machine. It involves using polycarbonate flame-resistant sheets to thermoform into a shield and bond with the acrylic round cover. You can see that there are no air bubbles, and that’s what makes us professional.

  • A high level of craftsmanship: As the continuity of the adhesive application determines the quality of the product.
Consistency in the application process is crucial, as any interruptions or pauses while applying the adhesive can result in the formation of air bubbles.

Materials We Bond

As its high impact resistance, good adhesion properties, thermal stability, chemical resistance, polycarbonate sheet is one of the best plastic for plastic bonding.

A solvent-based glue is used to adhere acrylic pieces together. It uses to retail displays, decorative boxes, models, and even fix cracks and breaks in existing acrylic structures.

PVC

PVC is versatility, durability, chemical resistance, and cost-effectiveness, an ideal choice for a wide range of applications like pipes, covers.

abs-plastic-sheeting

ABS

ABS is an opaque thermoplastic polymer that is commonly used in both thermoforming and injection molding manufacturing.

Bonding Post-Processing
Common Bonding Plastic Use Cases

Excelite Plastics’ adhesive processing is used to create clean, durable bonded plastic parts and sub-assemblies for machine guards and safety covers, enclosures and housings, display windows and protective lenses, automotive interior/exterior trim components, and marine/caravan windows and panels—especially where customers need fewer fasteners, better appearance, and faster assembly.

Bonding PVC

Solvent Welding, this is the most common method for bonding PVC pipes and fittings.
bonding polycarbonate

Bonding Plastic Components

Plastic components and super glue for plastics mouldings, for example, protective panels, art objects, showcases, display stands, shop or exhibition shelving and newspaper stands made from transparent plastics.

Bonding Polycarbonate to Aluminum

Mental and plastic bonding adhesive is critical for aircraft windows or canopies, withstand extreme temperatures, strongest glue for metal to plastic, and UV exposure.

Bonding of Plastic Housings

Strong, lightweight joints with a seamless finish, like LED fixtures, automotive enclosures, dashboards, and laptops.

FAQ

Most frequent questions and answers

Plastic bonding, requires a clean, smooth joint and specific chemicals given the unique properties of this material. Plastics bonded through adhesives benefit from light weighting, improved aesthetics, high bond strengths, weathering resistance, lack of sharp edges and quicker assembly times.

The choice of adhesive for the plastic largely depends on the application. Often, the adhesive or sealant needs to be clear to preserve the optical clarity of polycarbonate.

Yes—cosmetic clear-to-clear bonding is possible, but results depend on the material (PC vs acrylic), part flatness, edge quality, joint design, and cleanliness requirements. For “high-clarity” assemblies, we’ll review your drawings and appearance expectations (e.g., acceptable bond-line visibility, edge look, viewing distance) and recommend the most suitable bonding approach and prep/fixturing plan.

For the fastest quote, send:

  • STEP / STP (preferred for 3D parts)
  • IGES / IGS
  • DXF / DWG (2D profiles)
  • PDF (dimensioned drawings)

If you also have photos, sketches, or sample notes, include them—especially for cosmetic requirements.

Yes. This is a core “one-stop” workflow at Excelite. We can machine, form, and then bond parts into sub-assemblies, commonly combining:

  • CNC machining (profiles, pockets, holes, slots)
  • Drilling
  • Bending
  • Thermoforming
  • Then bonding + inspection before shipment

This reduces vendor handoffs and helps maintain fit/alignment across steps.

It varies by part complexity, material availability, and cosmetic/QC requirements, but typical ranges are:

  • Prototypes / samples: ~7–10 days
  • Small batch: ~2–4 weeks
  • Production runs: based on quantity and process steps; we’ll confirm after drawing review

If you have a deadline, share it—we can often propose a staged delivery (prototype first, then production).

We reduce bubbles and cosmetic defects through process control, including:

  • Surface prep & cleanliness: controlled cleaning/handling to avoid dust, oils, and moisture
  • Edge/fit quality: CNC edge finish and proper joint gap control (uneven gaps often show as visible lines)
  • Fixturing & alignment: stable fixtures to keep consistent pressure and prevent part movement during cure
  • Controlled application: consistent adhesive volume and application path to avoid trapped air
  • Cure management: defined cure time/conditions to stabilize the bond line before handling

We’ll also align on a cosmetic acceptance standard up front so inspection matches your expectations.

Sometimes—but it depends on where the coating is located and the required bond area.

  • If the bond line is on a coated surface, adhesion may be reduced or inconsistent.
  • If we can bond to an uncoated bonding flange/edge, results are typically much better.

Best practice: send the coating spec (or product link) and your drawing. We’ll confirm feasibility and, if needed, recommend design adjustments (e.g., masking a bonding area or keeping coatings away from the joint).
