Glass
When considering transparent front panels for outdoor television enclosures, glass might be an obvious choice due to its modern elegance, rigidity, scratch resistance, and clarity. However, using glass in front of a TV screen might not be ideal due to its shatter easily, higher cost, and the added weight that demands a stronger structure, ultimately increasing overall expenses.. It’s best suited for settings without direct exposure to storms or flying objects.
Acrylic sheet
Acrylic sheets, also known as plexiglass or perspex, are transparent and offer superior clarity and higher scratch resistance compared to polycarbonate sheets. Acrylic sheet is 30 times stronger in impact resistance than glass, and it’s very light weight, just half weight of glass, but it’s still breakable, means it’s not shatter proof. Weather resistance is not as good as polycarbonate sheet as well, most of the Acrylic sheet is not UV rated. Plexiglass tv enclosure works temperature is between -10°C to +55°C. It’s not heat resistant.
Polycarbonate sheet
Polycarbonate sheet, specifically ultra-clear Excelite polycarbonate sheeting, stands out as an ideal solution. This material, similar to that used in bulletproof glass and spacecraft windshields, has 250 times impact resistant compares to glass, is shatterproof, crack-resistant, and exceptionally durable, ensuring reliable protection for outdoor TVs even in adverse weather conditions.
Polycarbonate sheets have a weight equivalent to acrylic sheets, both being half the weight of traditional glass. Polycarbonate maintains its properties over a wide range of temperatures, from -20 to 140°C. Its glass transition temperature is around 147°C, and it softens gradually above this point and flows above about 155°C, so its heat resistance is much better than Acrylic sheet.
Polycarbonate enclosures are often used in industrial and outdoor settings because they can withstand high impact without breaking. Polycarbonate is also UV rate and can withstand extreme temperatures without warping or cracking.
Plexiglass outdoor tv enclosure is ligature resistant, which is popular used in hospitals, mental health facilities, correctional centers, care residences, educational institutions, and childcare centres. Anti-ligature measures are essential in settings aiming to prevent intentional or accidental self-harm among patients or individuals.
