Our bullet-resistant glass offers exceptional impact resistance, optical clarity, and UV protection, making it ideal for high-risk environments, secure installations, and various applications.

Bulletproof Glass

Excelite Bulletproof Glass is engineered to provide superior protection and security applications. Made from high-quality polycarbonate sheets, our bullet resistant glass combines exceptional impact resistance with clarity, making it an ideal choice for ballistic threats, from handguns to high-caliber firearms.

There are various types of material used to manufacture bulletproof glass and offer a different level of protection. These levels range from level 1 that can protect against 9mm bullets to level 10 that can sustain some 50 BMG bullets.

There are two most common types used for bulletproof glass panels, acrylic(plexiglass) sheets and polycarbonate sheets.

Excelite’s advanced manufacturing processes ensure that each bullet proof panels meet stringent quality standards, delivering reliable performance you can trust.

The Difference Between Bulletproof Glass And Polycarbonate Bulletproof

A 24 mm Glass Polycarbonate and offers the same No Spall protection as the 58 mm All Glass pane shown centrally.

The Polycarbonate weighs 52 kg/m2 compared to the 140kg/m2 of the all glass.

Spall Allowed and No Spall are classifications in BS 1063, Low Spall is more commonly associated with BS 5051 and is often used in compositions for bullet categories G0, G1, G1S and G2S86.

The above is not an exhaustive list, and when choosing the correct bulletproof glass, there are many other considerations which may have a bearing in the final design, such as maximum pane size available, the requirement for low iron.

Bulletproof Plexiglass Acrylic Sheet

Bulletproof Glass made of acrylic is commonly designed for conventional use.
Bulletproof acrylic glass can be CNC machining, drilled, routed, and shaped to seamlessly integrate with your facility aesthetics.

Its multi-layer construction absorbs and disperses the energy from bullets or other projectiles, providing reliable protection in high-risk environments.

Bulletproof acrylic is highly customizable, with a wide range of thicknesses and sizes available to suit your specific requirements. For more information, feel free to contact us.

Applications of Bulletproof Plexiglass:

  • Armored Vehicles
  • Security Barriers
  • Retail Displays
  • Architectural Features
  • Tactical Equipment
Thickness Bullet Proof Level Type of Weapon Application
1-1/4" (32mm) NIJ Level I stop some low-velocity projectiles such as small handguns (e.g., 9mm or .22 caliber) at close range small security windows, retail display cases, and less demanding environments
1-3/8" (35mm) NIJ Level II / II-A stop slightly higher-velocity bullets, such as .38 special or 9mm bullets personal security windows, armored vehicles, and some high-security areas
laminated-polycarbonate

Polycarbonate & Laminated Polycarbonate Bullet Resistant

Bulletproof panels are created by laminating multiple layers of acrylic and polycarbonate using advanced adhesives or interlayers.

Bulletproof Glass

Bullet glass compositions vary but most common are laminated structures manufactured from several layers of glass bonded together with tough (PVB) interlayer’s. The performance requirements govern the number, and thickness of individual glass layers, thus affecting the overall thickness and weight.

Some bullet compositions include the use of a polycarbonate layer on the secure side. Polycarbonate is lighter and stronger than glass and its use allows the manufacturers to reduce overall thickness and greatly reduce weight, especially in no spall variants.

Specifications:

Thickness: 61mm (Glass+PC)

Weight: 265x115mm – 4.2kg/pc

Light Transmission: 82-90%

Ballistic: NIJ 0108.01 Level IV

Applications of Bulletproof Glass

Bulletproof glass

Security Windows and Doors

For high-risk buildings, such as banks, government buildings, and embassies, providing protection against shootings or terrorist attacks.

Bulletproof Glass

Armored Glass

Offering varying levels of protection, armored glass can be customized to meet specific security needs, making it a versatile choice for both architectural and security applications.

helmet Visor

Shields and Bulletproof Helmet

The thickness of a helmet visor typically ranges from 3mm to 20mm, depending on the level of protection required and the specific design of the helmet.
military vehicles

Military and Government Applications

Ballistic glass is essential in military and government vehicles for protecting critical infrastructure, personnel, and high-security areas from ballistic threats.

Different Thickness Ballistic Resistant Glass and Corresponding Protection Levels

Thickness Bullet Proof Level Applicable Threats
7/10 inch (18mm) Level I Protection against small-caliber handguns (e.g., .22 caliber, .380 ACP)
7/10 inch (18mm) Level II Protection against standard handguns (e.g., 9mm, .357 Magnum JSP )
7/8 inch (22mm) Level IIIA Protection against high-velocity handguns (e.g., .44 Magnum, .357 Magnum)

FAQ

Most frequent questions and answers

The thickness of bulletproof glass varies based on its level of protection. Generally, it ranges from 1 inch to several inches thick, depending on the intended use and the level of ballistic resistance required.

Yes, bulletproof glass can be tinted or coated for additional privacy, sun protection, or enhanced aesthetics. However, it is crucial to ensure that any added layers do not compromise the glass’s ballistic integrity.

Bulletproof glass is rated according to ballistic standards, ranging from Level I (protection against smaller handguns) to Level IV (protection against high-caliber rifle rounds). The level required depends on the potential threats in a specific environment.

No, Plexiglass is not completely bulletproof, but it can be bullet resistant.

For Plexiglass to offer Level 1 protection, it has to “protect against complete penetration, the passage of fragments of projectiles or spalling (fragmentation) of the material to the degree that injury would be caused to a person standing directly behind the bullet-resisting barrier,” according to Underwriter’s Laboratories.
